Free Q&A for Students and Career-changers Interested in Translation/Interpreting Careers

The Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters is pleased to announce a free panel discussion for anyone interested in gaining more knowledge about T&I fields!

Are you thinking about pursuing a career in translation or interpreting and need more information about what it's like in the field? This panel is for you!

Are you a program coordinator, college instructor, or interpreter trainer?

Bring your class to this Saturday panel and invite students.

On May 11th (at 11:00 AM PDT/Pacific), OSTI is offering a panel on careers in translation and interpreting.

Please share this event with your friends, students, and with others interested in learning more about translation or interpreting. We hope to see you there!

About the Panelists:

-  Lois Feuerle, PhD, JD, is OSTI's president and a founding member of OSTI. She has served on the Oregon Governor’s Commission on Health Care Interpreters and currently serves on the Oregon Council on Health Care Interpreters.

- John Wan is a certified Mandarin Court Interpreter in Washington, Oregon, and California.

- Esmeralda Hu is a certified Spanish Medical Interpreter based in San Diego, California. She is an in-house interpreter at UC San Diego Health.

- Malcolm Goldman is a German > English literary translator based in Portland, Oregon. They regularly serve on the papers committee for the annual OSTI conference, and their first published translation, Globus: Studies on the World-Historical Doctrine of Space by Franz Rosenzweig, was published in the Rosenzweig Yearbook in 2023.

Allison deFreese (the panel moderator) has been leading multi-language literary translation workshops for OSTI since 2018 and has served as OSTI's conference chair from 2020-2024 (save-the-date, September 20-21, 2024). She has published a few books.

OSTI is an affiliate of the ATA. This event is free, and OSTI student memberships start at $15.
